EPW - Swiss, case marked for retailer Johannes Hartmann of Berlin, quarter-hour repeater with chronograph, 52mm, 14K rose gold original HC with 1945 presentation to rear "Honny soit qui mal y pense, Emile Wacker, 26 Oct 45" with the phrase therein being French for "Shame on him who thinks evil of it" which is the motto of the British chivalric Order of the Garter, signed gold cuvette, white enamel SS impressed dial, fancy gilt Louis XV style hands, SW-shift-locking-LS, lever escapement with capped escape wheel, at least 21J, gilt mvt, s#68932 within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 80.7 dwt (125.5 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, good repeat function and tone, good chronograph function, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with scattered fine scratches, steelwork with scattered oxide spots; nearly flawless dial with few fine to micro-fine scratches, pinpoint surface nick between 2 and 3, few infinitesimal pinpoint nicks to upper perimeter and rim of seconds-register; excellent hands, sweep-seconds-hand with slight bend; case shows little wear, some scattered dings to front and band, good engraving detail, case front and rear open somewhat short of 90 degrees (to approximately 85 degrees and 80 degrees, respectively); tight bow, crown shows light wear with ridge break; good glass crystal.
